Jazz a la Carte

Repertoire

From the songbooks of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra but also George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hart, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Art Blakey and many many more, we play over 500 jazz tunes.

We also play requests. Send us your wish-list and we'll make sure to include it in the set.

From Cool-Jazz to Red-hot, we suggest the following styles and some of the tunes they are best associated with:

Ballads / Lounge Jazz: The perfect way to fill the atmosphere with some tasteful and low-key tunes. Ideal for a seated dinner where the music remains in the background, we also use this list of standards for drawing the crowd to the dance floor.

Afternoon in Paris - All the things you are - Bluesette - Day in, day out - Every time we say goodbye  - Fly me to the moon - I only have eyes for you - Invitation - Let's fall in love  - Lover man - The nearness of you - Out of nowhere - Stella by starlight - The way you look tonight - Whisper not

Trad-Jazz / Swing: Imagine yourself on a sunny afternoon in the garden, having a reception and drinks to the sound of cheerful and light music. All the best songs of the era of Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman. We supply the banjo and the boater hats!

All of me - Crazy rhythm - Flying home - In a mellow tone  - Just in time - Mean to me  - Opus one  - Satin doll - She's funny that way  - Satin Doll  - Take the A train - Undecided - 9:20 special

Bebop / Jazz club: If you are planning a busy party with a need for energetic music full of virtuosity and rhythm, this is the best set for you. Generally performed with a quintet featuring Sax and Trumpet.

Along came Betty - Au privave - Cherokee - Confirmation - Four - Groovin High - Have you met Miss Jones?  - Joy spring - Love for sale - Line for Lyons  - Milestone - Night and day - Oleo - Softly as in a morning sunrise  - Soultrane  - There will be another you  - Watermelon man  - Well you needn't

Latin-Jazz / Bossa Nova: Gradually appearing from the 1940's on the New York scene, latin music has now become a full component of the Jazz repertoire. The gentleness of the Bossa-Nova is a favourite for lovers whilst the punchy Latin-jazz tunes always guarantees a dance moves contest!
